card that can be used to make purchases). And, you're able to register cards from any financial institution
and the cards of a joint member on your enrolled account. As a Fraud
Protection Plus member, you'll feel more secure knowing that 24
hours a day, you can: cancel your cards, stop unauthorized purchases, and
request new cards... all with one toll-free phone call! Even better, you are
covered for any liability for which the issuer holds you responsible. Please
note: GECU credit, debit, and ATM card holders are not
liable for any fraudulent charges made to their account.
Important Emergency Features: If your cards are lost or stolen, and you're more than 50 miles away from
home, you may also request these services when you call to report your missing
cards:

Cash - Obtain up to $300 is cash to help you out in a pinch. Pick-up
your cash at over 245,000 Western Union locations in 200 countries.
Emergency
Airline Tickets - If theft or loss leaves you without cash or credit
cards, you can receive an airline ticket to get home.
You will be
invoiced within 30 days of your request only for the amount of the cash
advance and/or cost of an airline ticket and prepaid ticket fee. No other
service charges apply.
Using Your
Benefit is Easy:
List the cards
you want to protect (can be from any financial institution) on the Payment Card Registration Form found in your
Fraud Protection Plus membershipbooklet (you receive this booklet when you enroll in
the program).
Mail the form
to the Fraud Protection Plus Member Service Center using the the return envelope
(provided when you enroll in Fraud Protection Plus). Or, enclose the form in a stamped envelope and
mail to: Member Service Center, P.O. Box 121619, Nashville, TN 37212-1619.
If a joint
member would like to enroll in Payment Card Protection, please contact Fraud
Protection Plus Member Services at: 800.251.2311, Monday - Friday 8
a.m. - 9 p.m. EST to request an additional registration form.
You'll receive
a confirmation kit in four to six weeks. The kit includes a list of your
registered cards, an update form, warning stickers for your cards, and
stickers with the phone number to report missing cards.
To report lost
or stolen cards, call the Payment Card Protection Member Service Call Center 24 hours a day, 365
days a year, at: 1.800.251.2690. To call from outside the United
States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands, call
614.823.5161. Within 24 hours, your cards will be
cancelled and replacements will be requested.
To add cards or
update your registration, call the Payment Card Protection Member Service Call Center, or complete
and mail-in your update form. You may register any number of cards and joint
cards, from any financial institution, and
update them as often as you wish.
If you are held
responsible for unauthorized charges, send copies of your credit card bills
to the Payment Card Protection Member Service Center. Once information is verified, you will receive
a check for the full amount of your liability.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: YOUR LIABILITY
FOR FRAUDULENT CHARGES UNDER FEDERAL LAW:
For credit cards:
If the card issuer has notified you of your
maximum potential liability, has provided a means for you to notify the card
issuer of credit card loss or theft, and if the credit card contains a way of
identifying the cardholder or authorized user, then your liability for
fraudulent charges made to your account before the card issuer is notified is up
to $50 for each card. Please note: GECU credit card holders are not
liable for any fraudulent charges made to their account.
For debit and cash-machine cards:
Your liability for fraudulent use
of your cards is up to $50 if you notify the card issuer of the loss or theft of
the card within two business days after learning of the loss or theft of the
card. After that, your liability is up to $500 for each card. Or, if you do not
notify the card issuer within 60 days of receipt of a monthly statement showing
unauthorized transfers, then your liability for each card is up to the total
amount of unauthorized transfers that occurred after the 60-day period and
before notice, provided that the card issuer establishes that the unauthorized
transfers would not have occurred if you had notified the card issuer within the
60-day period. You may also be liable for up to $50 or $500 for each card as
described above, as applicable. Please note: GECU debit and ATM card
holders are not liable for any fraudulent charges made to their account.
